The Taxback Group’s CSR Programme was set up in 2007 in response to a tragic flooding disaster in Tsar Kaloyan, Bulgaria. Eight people were killed and dozens left homeless without food or water when severe flooding struck the north-eastern village of Tsar Kaloyan.
Deeply saddened by the news, our Bulgarian staff decided to help and within 48 hours had organised 3.5 tonnes of food and 12,000 litres of drinking water for the village.
After this event, we decided to formalise our CSR activity and give it a global reach so staff in our offices all over the world could get involved.
At The Taxback Group, Corporate Social Responsibility is a vital part of our remit. In each of the communities in which our offices are based, we strive to make a difference. We have a global team of CSR champions who work on fundraising and teambuilding activities to help local charities.
This year, our dominant theme for CSR is 'Let the Children Play.' Through this global initiative we provide a range of activities for the children of our staff, charities and children's hospitals. An example of this is our sponsorship of the pet therapy programme at Temple Street and the building of a sensory garden for Enable Ireland.
The Green Project was the brainchild of several Taxback Group employees and raises environmental awareness and the implementation of measures to reduce our carbon footprint.
We’ve cut down on our use of paper by making a lot of our processes and services online.
Our efforts to protect the environment have been rewarded by us winning several environmental awards including the Special Contribution Award for Green Practices and a Paperless Office Award.
Charity begins at home and at The Taxback Group, we want our employees to be happy. CSR activities are an excellent way to raise morale and team build. We conduct ongoing focus groups and surveys to capture opinions and feedback from our staff so we can continue to improve all the time. We were awarded a Great Place to Work award in 2016 and our CSR activity played an important part in improving staff engagement.
